SPMT Hire

RRS provides Self-Propelled Modular Transporter (SPMT) hire for the controlled movement and positioning of heavy and abnormal loads. Our SPMT systems are used where accuracy, manoeuvrability, and load control are essential, particularly on complex or constrained sites.
SPMTs are available with or without operators, depending on the needs of the project and the level of in-house capability.

SPMT Fleet

KAMAG K2400
RRS operates a fleet of KAMAG K2400 SPMTs, offering a flexible and scalable solution for a wide range of heavy transport operations.
Fleet capability:
      •     30 axle lines available
      •     Configurable in 4-axle or 6-axle line modules
      •     30,000 kg capacity per axle line
      •     2 Power Pack Units (PPUs)
The modular design allows axle lines to be connected both longitudinally and transversely, enabling each configuration to be tailored to the load, site conditions, and method of execution.

Capabilities

Our SPMTs are designed to provide controlled movement and precise positioning of heavy loads.
Key capabilities include:
      •     Modular axle configurations to suit varying load sizes and weights
      •     Electro-hydraulic drive, steering, braking, and suspension
      •     Joystick-controlled operation for accurate handling
      •     Multiple steering modes, including:
      •     Normal steering
      •     Crab steering
      •     Transverse movement
      •     Carousel steering for controlled rotation within restricted areas
These features allow SPMTs to operate effectively in confined spaces and complex working environments.

Hire Options

Operated SPMT Hire
RRS offers a fully managed operated SPMT hire service for complex or critical operations.
This typically includes:
      •     RRS-supplied SPMT operators
      •     Engineering and configuration support
      •     Mobilisation and demobilisation of equipment
      •     On-site execution and coordination with the wider project team
This option is suited to projects where specialist operational control and integrated planning are required.
SPMT Hire Without Operator
SPMTs can also be supplied on a bare hire basis for clients with established in-house SPMT capability.
Bare hire is subject to:
      •     Client-provided competent operators and supervision
      •     Agreed operating procedures and safe systems of work
      •     Pre-hire confirmation of configuration, operating limits, and responsibilities
Availability is dependent on project scope and competency review.
